Begala: “Let’s teach him a lesson and not be judgmental. How about we forgive him?”
Saletan: “Has Mark Sanford lost his mind? Doesn’t he understand that you never, ever, ever admit that you loved the other woman? That you still have strong feelings for her? That part of you wishes you could leave your job and family and go with her?” http://www.slate.com/id/2221333/
Curt Anderson: “This press conference was a completely narcissistic act, masquerading as humility. If he really wants to put his family back together he should resign and go do that.”
In defense of Sanford’s aides, ‘I’m getting some Argentinean tail’ sounds a lot like ‘I’m on the Appalachian Trail’…
Will “Maria” be the Wallis Simpson of our generation?
Watching a tortured soul implode gives me no pleasure. Is anyone else let down that he wasn’t on a nude hike? Now that’s funny.
On the bright side, Sanford’s lovesick missives are almost as riveting as the Starr Report.
The Fix: “Sanford…could not support Rep. Bob Livingston for Speaker after his admission of an affair in late 1998.” http://bit.ly/c8rAX
Re: Sanford, When they said Father’s Day I immediately thought love child, but no one seems to be pursuing that angle.
When Republicans cheat, they have three go-to excuses:
1) It was an early “failed” marriage (Wonder why it failed? I guess it doesn’t count if you divorce your wife before everyone finds out you cheated.)
2) It was a “youthful indiscretion” (I think Henry Hyde was youthful well into his 50’s.)
3) It was before he “found God” (What, was God lost?)
When Democrats cheat, they are terrorists.
Logophile is one of the many words, and probably the most common, referring to people who love words. It tends not to get included in dictionaries because it’s not terribly common in the mainstream, even though dictionary people, most of whom are themselves logophiles, run into it more often than most.
